Purpose
The purpose of this component of work was to
conclude and hand over the learning’s from the Programme to the EPWP
Unit.
Work undertaken

Extensive work was undertaken by the Support
Programme in the last two years of its implementation time frame to
document the tools, processes and procedures developed and to hand
them over to the EPWP Unit. This was generally undertaken on a
programme by programme basis as each one came to an end.
A rigorous process was applied whereby in each of the sectors and
areas where the Support Programme worked a process of documenting and
then formally handing over the material through workshops and training
sessions was undertaken. In addition depending on the complexity of
the material being handed over it also entailed a period of mentorship
whereby the Support Programme was available to provide advice,
participate in meetings etc in order to ensure that the Official
responsible for ongoing implementation of the material understood and
took ownership of it.
The success of this handover varied by sector and was dependent on the
capacity of the Officials receiving the material and the extent to
which they found it useful.
In addition to the above the Support Programme undertook the following
activities at a more generalised level in order to handover and
transfer the learning’s and documents from the programme:
- EPWP Unit Staff Induction Programme: The Support
Programme developed an induction programme for EPWP Unit staff. This
programme contained key operational learning’s from EPWP 1 relevant
to EPWP 2 and was expanded over time to include an overview of EPWP
2. The Support Programme actively implemented the induction
programme together with EPWP Unit staff and the programme was then
handed over to the EPWP Unit so that they could continue to operate
it into the future.
- Document Index: The index contains over 250 of the key
documents generated by the Support Programme. The index categorises
the key areas of work undertaken by the Support Programme and sets
out the documents developed for each area. A brief abstract of the
documents is presented in the index and then hyperlinks allow the
reader to move to the document if they wish to access it.
Achievements
The Support Programme has actively documented the
work undertaken and key learning’s and made them available to the EPWP
Unit. The use of these documents and materials is variable.
